About Our Peer Support Specialist Position:

The Peer Support Specialist uses lived experience and recovery-focused practices to support participants in achieving their individual wellness and recovery goals. This role provides mentorship, advocacy, skill-building, and connection to community resources while promoting participant choice, independence, and self-determination as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.

What a Peer Support Specialist Does at Resilient Health:

• Provides individual, family, and group peer support services in accordance with participant needs, individualized treatment plans, and program requirements to our SMI patient population
• Facilitates or co-facilitates peer-led groups, educational sessions, and recovery-oriented activities
• Uses lived experience appropriately and professionally to provide hope, mentorship, encouragement, and recovery-focused support while maintaining appropriate boundaries
• Supports participants in identifying strengths, establishing recovery and wellness goals, and developing practical steps toward achieving those goals
• Promotes participant self-advocacy, self-determination, informed decision-making, independence, and active participation in treatment and recovery
• Models and supports the development of coping skills, healthy communication, problem-solving, independent living skills, and other recovery-oriented behaviors
• Assists participants in navigating behavioral health, healthcare, social service, and community systems and connects them with appropriate resources and natural supports
• Supports participant engagement in treatment, recovery activities, employment, education, community involvement, and other activities consistent with their identified goals
• Conducts outreach, engagement, and re-engagement activities for participants experiencing barriers to participation in services
• Engages families and other natural supports to support recovery goals
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary treatment team members and contributes the peer perspective to treatment planning, care coordination, and service delivery
• Advocates for participant preferences, needs, choices, and goals and promotes recovery-oriented, person-centered services
• Maintains accurate, timely, and complete documentation of services and activities in accordance with organizational, payer, regulatory, and accreditation requirements
• Maintains participant confidentiality, professional and ethical boundaries, and compliance with HIPAA and applicable organizational policies and requirements
• Participates in supervision, training, team meetings, and professional development activities
• Models effective coping techniques and self-help strategies

Requirements for This Position:

• Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) required (must be 21 years old):
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and six months of full-time behavioral health work experience or internship or Peer Support Certification, or
  • Associates Degree and three months of full-time behavioral health experience or internship or Peer Support Certification, or
  • A BHT Certificate from an accredited college/university, or
  • Bachelor's Degree, or
  • Master's Degree
• Arizona Peer Support Specialist Certification required
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of six months full-time experience working in a behavioral health setting
• Understanding of recovery-oriented, person-centered, and strengths-based principles
• Ability to complete required clinical documentation timely utilizing the organization's electronic health record and other organizational systems
• Valid driver's license
• Valid CPR/First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Three-year Motor Vehicle Record that meets our auto insurance carrier's coverage requirements.

What This Position Pays: $20.39 - $22.62, depending on education and experience
